Bobby Edwards AKA Robert Edwards in Savannah - How I found out about him.
Bobby Edwards came into my field of vision when I heard about a situation involving him allegedly taking money to do a kitchen remodel at The Merritt on Whitemarsh Island and then not doing the job.
Bobby supposedly used to work for The Merritt, as a maintenance person.
Bobby Edwards presented himself as an individual who did construction jobs and was capable of remodeling a kitchen. So says his business card. He wanted a prepayment. The elderly woman who was hiring him to do the job was not paying attention and when Bobby Edwards said that he would just write out the check to himself while standing by her checkbook, she said okay.
Would you believe that he allegedly made himself out a check from this woman's check book for over FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS?? This was way over the amount she agreed to prepay.
She didn't even catch it until he was out the door.
Bobby never showed up to do the job. He avoided phone calls. He would answer the phone when she dialed from other people's phones - he never showed up again except to leave a note - which we still have - admitting that she probably doesn't want him to do the job anymore and would get her back her money. The money never came.
So now she was out over $4000.00 AND still had a mess of a kitchen and he was avoidant. As you can imagine, she was devastated.
Please perform due diligence on anyone you choose to hire for home construction and remodeling work. Do not pre-pay for the job and make sure that your contractors are insured, licensed, and bonded. Demand a contract, make sure that the scope of work and timeline are clearly outlined and you have receipts for any payments that you make.

ReplyDeleteI can assure you she has not. He has my number and still hasn't called me to make it right. I have my proof of his admission and claims he will make it right. It still hasn't happened. I offered to meet up with him and he didn't respond.
DeleteI also have text messages from him saying that he was going to repay me for the ring he stole and here it's been over 2 years I have been trying to get him to repay me, he has no remorse about his actions and then tries to himself out to be the victim, I have voice mails of threatening me not to do anything about this blog and then text me wanting to know if I had him fired from his job and I said that I had not spoken to anyone yet and had been sleeping a horrible migraine to get some rest but I did tell him congratulations he has done all of this to himself but he has done messed with the wrong person because I know right where to send everything that I have on him and he has admitted about my ring not only to me but my sister in law who has been trying to help me get my worth of the ring back
